Bathford Display Boards and Inaugural Parish History Walk
The Parish Council are pleased to have already received very positive feedback from the Parishioners and visitors to the village acknowledging that these boards enhance the street scene and provide an insight into the rich heritage and history of Bathford. For this the Council have had the benefit of the support, and previously published work, of the Bathford Historical Society but it is the Cotswold Conservation Board, and in particular their Cotswold Voluntary Wardens, that have provided the match funding and labour to produce and erect these high quality information and display boards.
The history walk is a highlight featured on the board opposite the shop and it is this short 2.5 mile circular walk up to Browne’s Folly and back which will be led by members of the Council and the Wardens as a community venture starting at 10 am from the shop and finishing at the Village Hall at about 12.30/1pm where lunchtime refreshments will be available. Because of the fluid nature of the government restrictions surrounding Covid 19 further details will be available on this page and posted on the noticeboard at the shop and village hall. However as the current guidance restricts the number in any one gathering to 30 and walking groups of 6 the plan is to take 5 groups at staggered 5 minute intervals to ensure social distancing. There will be an introductory talk and masks and sanitiser will be available for all.
Therefore it would be appreciated if all that wish to join in this event would indicate their interest to the Parish Clerk by e-mail on: clerk@bathford.net as soon as possible and not later than the end of September.
Watch out for further information and we look forward to seeing and walking with you but please remember to come suitably attired for a walk in the countryside.
